With The Pre-Sequel on the way later this year and the game’s final add-on adventure launching this week, the end of the Borderlands 2 era is officially upon us. Don’t be sad. Borderlands 2 has had a great run.
Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax, the fifth and final Headhunter mission, is available now across all platforms for $2.99, and it promises to be the biggest and baddest Headhunter of them all.

Join Sir Hammerlock along with Brick, Mordecai, and Lilith on a relaxing vacation on Wam Bam Island as you play the biggest Headhunter add-on in the series. At first, everything appears peaceful as Sir Hammerlock shows off his homemade brew and talks about the latest in Varkid tracking… that is, until tragedy strikes when a monstrously large beast kidnaps the scholarly hunter and pulls him underground. Fortunately, Crazy Earl and Mordecai are on hand to help recover the mustached colleague, provided you do a few favors for them first.
Your journey across Wam Bam Island culminates in a battle against a foe that may look familiar to some – Crawmerax Jr., the son of the great crab worm from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx add-on from the original Borderlands. Crawmerax Jr. is seeking vengeance on Lilith, Brick and Mordercai for brutally defeating his father over and over again. You must fight him off without their help so, you may want to call some friends to help you out with this one.
If you are successful in defeating Crawmerax Jr., you get the honor of wearing his head – but shrunk down to fit on your character’s neck since you aren’t an 80 foot crab worm. Each character gets a new beach themed skin as well, including Axton wearing an 80’s Aloha shirt and a certain dual gun wielding Vault Hunter prepping for a wet t-shirt contest. Oh, and make sure to bring your sun screen!

The Borderlands 2 Headhunter DLC series will continue with its fourth installment on February 11th, a Valentine’s Day themed event titled Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre. You’ll be able to play it on PC/Mac, PS3 or Xbox 360 for the low price of $2.99.
Wedding Day Massacre will mark the return of Innuendo Bot 5000 and Mad Moxxi, who enlist willing Vault Hunters to help bring love and peace to rival clans the Hodunks and the Zafords. As always, taking down the final Headhunter target will be rewarded with new heads and skins for each character class.

So, what’s next for Borderlands 2 after Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre? The Gearbox crew say they have just about hit the technical wall on the amount of content they can add to the game, but that they are still planning to squeeze in the release of one more Headhunter pack in April titled Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax.
