Sony HMZ-T3W Personal 3D Viewer – VGBlogger.com http://www.vgblogger.com Celebrating geek culture -- Books, Gadgets, Video Games & More! Wanna look like Cyclops from the X-Men while playing games or watching movies? You’ll be able to do just that when the HMZ-T3W Personal 3D Viewer comes out later in the year. Of course, you’ll probably need to cancel your PlayStation 4 and Xbox One pre-orders to be able to afford it.

As the third generation of Sony’s sci-fi-looking VR goggle rig, the HMZ-T3W is taking wearable tech to new extremes, offering twin HD OLED screens, which together simulate the experience of viewing a 750-inch screen from 20 rows (65 feet) away, as well as 7.1 virtual surround sound.

This latest hardware iteration is designed to be lighter and more comfortable than its predecessors, a crucial upgrade considering the HMZ-T3W will for the first time offer true portability. Instead of being tethered to an AC outlet, the latest Personal 3D Viewer will come with a mobile battery pack said to provide three hours of use on a single charge.

The HMZ-T3W will be able to connect to PCs, gaming consoles, home theater systems, tablets and smartphones, wirelessly or via HDMI.

Clearly more of a gadget for the tech enthusiast with disposable income to burn than the average Joe gamer and movie watcher, the HMZ-T3W Personal 3D Viewer is now available for pre-sale in the U.S. at Sony Stores and other retailers for $999.99.

Ouch, that’s pricey. Hopefully if Sony does end up releasing an Oculus Rift style VR headset for the PlayStation 4–as recent reports suggest–it’ll come out at a more affordable price point.
