Precursor Orbs, like coins in a Mario game, are the collectible artifacts and currency of the Jak and Daxter universe. Jak has collected thousands of them throughout his 5-game career and Daxter picked up his fair share during his solo PSP adventure. But I don’t know how they managed to carry so many on them at once. Oh, that’s right, I forgot — they, like many video game heroes, have bottomless pouches that magically store items of unlimited size and quantity.

Lucky them, because in real life Precursor Orbs are heavy as lead. OK, maybe not THAT heavy, but this replica Precursor Orb (with accompanying 10th Anniversary stand) I received today from Sony, in promotion of the Jak and Daxter HD trilogy coming to PS3 in February, is a good five pounds and is solid as a rock. I certainly wouldn’t want to lug around more than one in my pockets, let alone hundreds at a time!

View more Precursor Orb pics in the gallery below. There’s a link to the Jak and Daxter Collection trailer underneath that as well.

Swag Report: Fairytale Fights Goodie Box http://www.vgblogger.com/swag-report-fairytale-fights-goodie-box/5323/ Mon, 09 Nov 2009 19:08:50 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=5323 FairytaleFightsGoodies_006.jpg

Got a nice review kit in today for Playlogic’s new PS3/X360 action game Fairytale Fights. Contents include a double-sided mini-poster, a collection of four oversized playing cards, a small art booklet with press asset disc, and enough sugar discs to put any sweet tooth into a serious sugar coma. Oh, and a copy of the game on PS3 as well. Now to find out if it’s really as lousy as so many of the reviews are saying or if it’s the fun sleeper I’ve been hoping for it to be. Stay tuned…

Swag Report: The Box http://www.vgblogger.com/swag-report-the-box/5313/ http://www.vgblogger.com/swag-report-the-box/5313/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2009 14:34:32 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=5313 DragonAge_1.jpg

No, this post has nothing to do with the new Cameron Diaz flick. However, I did just receive this mysterious brown box stamped with a wax insignia. So what’s inside? Let’s find out…

It’s a Dragon Age: Origins swag box! Rattling around inside the straw-filled box is everything I need to properly review the game as a Grey Warden, including a copy of the game on PS3, a sealed letter explaining my duties as the world’s savior, and a red pouch containing a potion (along with another small letter) which I’m assuming is supposed to be darkspawn blood I’m supposed to drink as some sort of Grey Warden initiation (guess I’ll find out when I play the game).

I’ve posted some pictures below, along with the contents of the letters for those interested.

Letter #1:

You are a Grey Warden, and the only one who can save this world.

Your order has stood, time and again, against the endless hordes of the light and the Archdemon that leads them. If there is to be victory, it will have to be wrested from the squabbling lords whose petty ambitions have shattered the land. We must stand united, whatever the cost.

Friends and lovers may fall. Noble people may die so that others might live.

Hard decisions, yet you must make them, and you must bear the weight of the consequences.

Yet it’s not important how you will be remembered.

What’s important is that there is a world left to remember at all.

Letter #2 (with potion):

Each Grey Warden must drink of that which would destroy us.

Some master the blood of the darkspawn, some perish.

Will you test your strength against corruption itself?
