Just got in a brief message from the fortyseven PR team on behalf of Sierra Entertainment informing me that the new The Bourne Conspiracy game for PS3 and Xbox 360 will be making an appearance on tonight’s airing of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC. Really don’t have any details beyond that, as the note was appropriately inconspicuous. This is all it mentioned:

Picking up where last night’s The Bourne Conspiracy behind-the-scenes video trio left off, Emmanuel Valdez, Chief Creative Officer/Game Director, now discusses the game’s “Bourne Instinct” feature, a mechanic that captures Bourne’s “hyper-awareness” by making it easier to recognize enemies, locate objective points, identify destructible items in the environments and more. Basically, it’s Jason Bourne’s ability equivalent to Spider-Man’s “spidey sense.”

The Bourne Conspiracy Vid Docs: Combat, Shooting and Level Design

In this evening from Sierra come three new behind the scenes videos for The Bourne Conspiracy in which the team at High Moon Studios discusses various elements of the game’s design. Watch all three and you’ll learn all about Bourne’s shooting and combat skills, destructible cover pieces, the motion-capture and choreography work behind the fighting and the overall design of the environments. A lot of interesting info to pick up, but for me the most valuable bit of info comes from VP, Design Director Paul O’Connor who in talking about the many different objects that can be used as weapons says that “you’re not allowed to use rubber chickens because that would violate the Geneva Conventions.” Thanks for the tip Paul, we’ll be sure to stay away from using those rubber chickens to beat the snot out of Bourne’s enemies!

Latest Bourne Conspiracy Screens Not Lookin’ So Hot

So what’d you think of the recent demo for The Bourne Conspiracy? Me? I thought it was pretty slick (except for the rather crummy driving sequence, didn’t dig that too much). Impressive visuals, intense action, brutal hand-to-hand combat. It was all demonstrated beautifully and left me begging for more, like a good demo should. These new screenshots, though, I’m not sure what they’re all about. Not a single one does justice to what the game actually looks like in action, a few of them even look like they were captured from a build running on one the previous generation consoles or something.

PlayStation Store Explodes With Demos

Free up some hard drive space PS3 owners (I’m not joking, I just had to myself), the weekly PSN update has commenced and there are three new must-play PS3 demos to take for a spin, including Haze (1.474 GB), GRID (962 MB) and The Bourne Conspiracy (1.654 GB). On top of that, there’s a PSP demo now available for SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2 too. It’s going to be a busy night of downloading, that’s for sure…

Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that the sweet Mirror’s Edge gameplay video from the UK PlayStation Day is up on the PlayStation Store as well. Can’t wait to watch that in HD baby, even after I’ve watched it like a hundred times already.

5 Minutes of The Bourne Conspiracy Gameplay

After watching this five-minute clip (well, just under five minutes) of Sierra’s upcoming The Bourne Conspiracy, I sorta get the impression that it could’ve easily been titled something like ‘The Uncharted Bourne Conspiracy of Drake’s Fortune.’ I surely can’t be the only one who sees more than a few similarities between this and Naughty Dog’s PS3 action/adventure hit from last year, looks eerily similar to me. But hey, I’m not saying that like a bad thing, not at all. Uncharted is a sweet game, and TBC seems like it will be too.

Oh, and a quick not before you dive into the video. Around the 3-minute mark there’s a bit of a glitch and the audio starts lagging behind the footage. Something in my video conversion software is causing the problem, and I’ve tried a bunch of different settings but nothing seems to be working to clean it up. You can still see the gameplay, just be ready for delayed sound effects and such.
