This is What Happens When Indiana Jones Overdoses on Painkillers http://www.vgblogger.com/this-is-what-happens-when-indiana-jones-overdoses-on-painkillers/20187/ Tue, 05 Mar 2013 22:02:15 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=20187 DeadfallAdventures

What do you get when you combine the action adventure thrills of an Indiana Jones summer blockbuster with the relentless action of a game like Painkiller? Answer: Deadfall Adventures, the new game from The Farm 51, Polish development studio responsible for NecroVisioN and more recently Painkiller: Hell & Damnation.

Deadfall Adventures is a blend of cinematic action adventure puzzle-solving and exploration with over-the-top FPS running and gunning. As roguish adventurer James Lee Quatermain, players will embark on a treasure hunting quest to Unreal Engine 3-rendered Egyptian, Guatemalan, and Arctic environments in search of an ancient and powerful artifact known as The Heart of Atlantis. It won’t be that easy for our pal Quatermain, though, as a force of occult Nazis is hot on his tail.

Temple raiding. Nazi blasting. Swarms of supernatural beings. Deadly traps. Sounds like it should be good Saturday morning matinee fun. Keep an eye out for Deadfall Adventures this July 30th on PC and Xbox 360.

Painkiller Hell & Damnation Console Launch Set for April http://www.vgblogger.com/painkiller-hell-and-damnation-console-launch-set-for-april/19474/ Wed, 09 Jan 2013 19:05:59 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=19474 PainkillerHellAndDamnation

This spring, while nature lovers are outside frolicking in rain showers and gardens of budding flowers, stay inside, sit your ass down in front of that glorious HD TV of yours, cuddle up with your favorite gaming console and blast through the demonic forces of Purgatory.

Painkiller Hell & Damnation, The Farm 51’s remade HD edition of People Can Fly’s classic FPS first released on PC last Halloween, is now scheduled for PS3 and Xbox 360 release on April 5th. It was initially slated to ship this month, but the developers are taking extra time to make sure the console versions are “in line with the quality and standard of the PC game.”

Both standard and collector’s edition copies will be available on both platforms. The standard edition will cost $29.99 and the collector’s edition, which will include the usual assortment of DLC bonuses, art book, poster, making-of disc, stickers, postcards and so on, will run just $10 more.

Man, it’s hard to believe the Painkiller franchise is still going strong. No matter how many other first-person shooters come along, it just keeps on trucking, never ceasing to entertain with its gargantuan bosses and fast-paced, physics-heavy running and gunning through hell.

The next installment, Hell & Damnation, is coming up fast, sights set on throwing back to the hardcore spirit of the original game, augmented by a gorgeous new Unreal Engine 3 sheen. If you want a chance to get in on the horror-shooter fun, plug in your email address at the game’s official website to sign up for the newsletter and register for a potential invite to the closed beta test. Also keep regular tabs on the Painkiller forums and Facebook page for periodic beta key “blitz giveaways.”
