Tom Clancy’s EndWar shipped off to retailers in North America today. No surprise there, we knew it was coming out today. However, Ubisoft also sprang the news today out of nowhere that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the console-ized RTS will also now be available in extremely limited Limited Edition headset bundles, which only makes sense given the game’s optional voice command interface. The PS3 bundle is available at “select retailers” with the new official Sony Bluetooth headset that also comes with SOCOM: Confrontation. The Xbox 360 bundle, on the other hand, is available exclusively at Best Buy stores. Both bundles retail at $90. Hit the jump for a larger shot of the PS3 bundle.

With the gold news Ubisoft also provided the latest installment in the “The End Has Begun” video series, this episode providing a brief on the game’s Rank Promotions. Give it a watch below.

A couple months back I remember sighting mention of DS and PSP versions of Tom Clancy’s EndWar in a press release for the title, but considering no announcement of such versions had been made at the time and no site had listings for either one I shrugged it off as a typo. Turns out it wasn’t a typo after all with Ubisoft now confirming that DS and PSP versions of EndWar are indeed on the way.
Funatics Software is handling portable development on EndWar, both versions of which are scheduled to ship alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 releases on November 4th. While the DS version will make use of the stylus and touch screen interface for optimal turn-based strategy control, both versions share a striking resemblance to the Advance Wars series (which is a good thing) and the same gameplay content, including three 30-scenario campaigns, two-player wireless battles and a mission editor, among other features.
More details and eight first-look screenshots for each version after the break.
Tom Clancy’s EndWar for handhelds allows players to command an elite military force on the ground, in the air and on the seas during World War III. Take control of the elite U.S. Joint Strike Force, European Enforcers Corps or Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade and lead your faction to victory in three separate yet interwoven single-player campaigns. Each campaign includes over 30 battle scenarios taking place on real-world battlefields including Paris and London, and features increasingly challenging missions and objectives. Fight against a friend in tense two-player battles in any of the 100 ready-to-play scenarios or in your own custom-created missions.
Key Features:
• Turn-based strategy with a twist: Simultaneous move and attack phases make the experience as intense and authentic as real-time strategy.
• Three campaigns, one for each faction, with increasingly challenging battle scenarios and objectives.
• Over 20 units and vehicles per faction including ground, air and naval units. Units gain experience in combat, dramatically improving their combat performance.
• Two-player versus multiplayer mode, including additional missions specifically designed for multiplayer battles.
• Easy-to-pick-up mission editor: Create and share your custom battlefields and battle scenarios to play solo or against another player.
• Full stylus control on Nintendo DS.

Word has just been delivered to me from Ubisoft that a playable demo for its voice command RTS title Tom Clancy’s EndWar has been released today exclusively on Xbox 360 (sorry PS3 owners, you’ll have to wait for the full game to ship November 4th, and doubly sorry to 360 owners who pre-ordered to get the VIP demo because this is the same exact thing). Both single-player and multiplayer content is offered in the near-2GB trial version, including some of the “Prelude to War” solo tutorial campaign and multiplayer Conquest mode on one map — La Mancha, Spain — supporting 1-on-1 combat and full match-making. Break out your headsets and give it a try.

Coming up in October, Ubisoft will be kicking off a VIP demo test for Tom Clancy’s EndWar, the new console-focused, voice-controlled RTS game. Available exclusively on Xbox 360 via Xbox Live, the VIP beta will let players try out the game’s online multiplayer and voice command system in one final stress test before Ubisoft ships the game later in the fall. Access to the demo will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis to those who pre-order through participating retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop… you know, the usual). Once pre-ordered, customers will receive a special token unlocking access to download the demo through the Xbox Live Marketplace when it launches in early October.
“We believe EndWar will revolutionize the strategy genre on consoles and are thrilled gamers will be able to get a little taste of why we are so excited about EndWar’s release this holiday season,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “With its innovative voice command and intuitive game design, fans will be able to learn first hand how a console game was able to win the judges over and win Best Strategy Game of E3 for the first time in a category previously dominated by PC titles.”
Tom Clancy’s EndWar will be on store shelves this holiday season for Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and DS.
