Independent studio Frogdice clearly seems to have a fascination with mixing casual match-3 puzzle elements with more hardcore genres like role-playing and strategy. We saw it in the team’s previous game Dungeon of Elements, a hybrid of Dr. Mario and dungeon crawl gameplay, and we are seeing it again from the studio’s next project, Tower of Elements 2.

Tower of Elements 2, which surpassed its crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter in a day, similarly features a match-3 mechanic, but this time combines it with real time strategy, city building, and tower defense, as well as political decision making as a means to shape the story and cultural development of your kingdom.
