Old school Transformers fans, Activision and GameStop have a special pre-order deal for you. Reserve your copy of Fall of Cybertron before its approaching August 21st launch to unlock the G1 Retro Pack, which includes Optimus Prime in his original Generation 1 robot/vehicle forms for use in the solo campaign and during hectic multiplayer combat.
Also tossed into the retro-robot pot are the G1 Megatron Gun and Shockwave Cannon weapons for single player only. If you’re a PowerUp Rewards member, you’ll also get a Bumblebee Avatar for Xbox 360 or an XMB theme with the PS3 version.

Multiplayer has been thrown in as a bit of a bullet point afterthought in recent Transformers games (the past few I’ve played have either been very laggy or just plain forgettable after a handful of matches), but High Moon Studios aims to give gamers the satisfying, long-lasting robot-on-robot competition they’ve been craving in Fall of Cybertron.
Revealed via a media blast containing a new trailer and a hefty stack of screenshots, Fall of Cybertron multiplayer features custom Transformer creation, 10 maps, five match types, and co-op wave survival. If you’re a fan of giant metal dudes smashing each other, vehicular combat and explosions (lots of explosions!), you’re probably going to dig this.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is shipping August 21st for PS3 and Xbox 360 and for PC digital download.

The fall of Cybertron will now begin one week ahead of schedule.

In the newest edition of Inside Cybertron, High Moon Studios Game Director, Matt Tieger discusses the introduction and back story of the Dinobots within the Transformers: Fall of Cybertron fiction. Watch it now or else Grimlock is gonna skewer you with his tail and use his flame breath to roast your mangled corpse like a marshmallow.

Sony got its nation of fans into a gamer frenzy with this week’s exciting (albeit completely expected) announcement of its PS3 mascot fighting game, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. So, that’s where we’ll kick things off with this weekend’s edition of Screenshot Saturday. Not a whole lot to see from the game yet, but the first screenshots sure stir up plenty of hype and anticipation for what other characters and stages will be announced once E3 rolls around.
New pics are also in this week for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition, Battlefield 3: Close Quarters DLC, PlanetSide 2, Krater, Hitman: Absolution, Forza 4‘s Top Gear Pack, Cyanide’s Game of Thrones RPG, Gungnir and Mercenary Ops.

High Moon Studios put the Transformers brand back on the map as a worthwhile licensed video game property with War for Cybertron, and now the sequel, Fall of Cybertron, coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 28, is looking to up the stakes. Big time.
For me, the inclusion of Grimlock, the mighty leader of the Dinobots capable of morphing into a ferocious space T-Rex, as a playable character is reason enough to send this game rocketing up to the top of my gotstahavit list. Watch him in action in this gameplay reveal, and tell me you aren’t dying to get behind the controller afterward. He’s a robot (armed with sword and shield) and a T-Rex; that’s like getting two dream toys from your boyhood Christmas wish list in one package.

One of the top stories of the week was Halo 4 getting its confirmed November 6 global launch date so it’s only fitting that Master Chief’s grand return to Xbox 360 glory headlines the latest edition of Screenshot Saturday. New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Crysis 3 certainly deserve to share the spotlight, as does the charmingly beautiful PS3 RPG Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. (Level-5’s latest is a treasure trove of desktop wallpaper material.)
Other top draws this week include Resistance: Burning Skies, Sorcery, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Dragon’s Dogma, Inversion, The Dark Eye – Demonicon, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Mercenary Ops and the iOS version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
For sporty gamers, new shots are also in for Pub Games, Sega’s official London 2012 Olympic Games video game, Super Black Bass 3D and Pro Cycling Manager 2012 / Tour de France 2012. Anime lovers won’t want to miss the first screen grabs from Dragon Ball Z for Kinect and One Piece: Pirate Warriors, and casual Nintendo 3DS/DS players should enjoy the scenery of Thundercats and three newly announced titles from Rising Star Games, including Cradle of Rome 2, Cradle of Persia and To-Fu Collection.

Also released today is the following behind-the-scenes video in which the team at High Moon chats about the groundbreaking gameplay variety they’ve packed into the game. Each Transformer has unique gameplay characteristics to take advantage of: Jazz has a grappling hook to reach higher platforms; Cliffjumper has a cloaking device that makes him a stealth kill specialist; Optimus Prime can call in devastating artillery air strikes; and newcomer Grimlock morphs into a T-Rex Dinobot that destroys enemies with fire breath and super strength. Different vehicle modes will also allow for multiple attack strategies for any given scenario.
]]>14 exclusive trailers premiered during the award ceremony, headlined, in my opinion, by The Last of Us, the next PS3 masterpiece-in-the-making from Naughty Dog. It has the same cinematic production values of the Uncharted games with a new setting that certainly reminds me a whole heck of a lot of I Am Legend. The other trailer that caught my attention was the new one re-announcing Metal Gear Solid: Rising as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
Other games featured include BioShock Infinite, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Fortnite, The Amazing Spider-Man, Mass Effect 3, Command & Conquer Generals 2, Hitman: Absolution, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Diablo 3, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Rainbow Six: Patriots and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. Watch all the trailers in that order below.
