A long lost gem from the original Xbox, Voodoo Vince is getting a welcomed HD restoration coming up on April 18th for Windows 10 and Xbox One, to be digitally distributed via Steam, Windows Store, and Xbox Live. Original creator Clayton Kauzlaric is releasing his voodoo doll 3D platformer from his independent studio Beep Games, through the ID@Xbox self publishing program.
While the gameplay will remain intact from its state in 2003, Voodoo Vince: Remastered will sport 1080p widescreen resolution running at 60fps; a from-the-ground-up rewrite of the rendering engine for new effects and textures; updated and remixed music; achievements (they weren’t a thing back in the day); Xbox Live and Xbox Play Anywhere integration; and support for controller rumble.
Voodoo Vince was never a candidate for Xbox 360’s backwards compatibility due to technical reasons, so the game will be like jumping into a brand new experience for a lot of players nowadays, myself included. As someone whose primary exposure to the Xbox library was through backwards compatibility, I’m eager to finally pin down the opportunity to play the game.
