Prepare to take to the skies in Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2, as a playable demo for Ubisoft’s flight combat sequel is due for takeoff next week.
Actually, the demo is only a day or two away, depending on which console you’re running. The Xbox 360 demo will be available to download on Monday, August 16th, with the PS3 demo to follow on Tuesday, August 17th.
The demo will consist of two single-player missions, including:
Interception Course:
Take to the air as a Russian pilot sent to intercept a group of stolen aircraft high above the Caucasus Mountains, a hot spot on the world conflict radar, you will be playing a Russian pilot in this mission part of the new multinational cinematic story narrative in H.A.W.X. 2.Seek and Destroy:
Playing from the perspective of the elite U.S. HAWX squadron deployed to settle conflict spilling over in Africa, you are tasked with taking out specific targets with smart ammunition at night. Take off from a carrier under the cover of night and strike against a weapon smuggling operation using precision guided laser bombs.
Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. 2 ships for PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 on September 7th.

You won’t have to wait until Rocktober 13th to get your hands on Tim Schafer’s Heavy Metal action game Brütal Legend. EA and Double Fine have announced that a playable demo will bust gamers’ guts and melt gamers’ faces next month. The demo will be made available beginning September 17th, and if you pre-order at a participating retailer you can gain exclusive early access to the demo a week in advance of everyone else — I can’t seem to find info clarifying whether the Sept. 17th date is the early access date or the public release date though.
Either way, here’s a description of what’ll be featured in the demo:
In the demo, players get a preview of the game’s non-stop hack n’ slash action and mayhem. The demo opens as Eddie awakes in the age of metal where he must quickly learn how to use the powerful ancient axe, ‘The Separator’ and electrifying guitar ‘Clementine’ to unleash combo moves that destroy the demons of darkness. As he comes face-to-face with zipper-faced nuns and devilish druids, Eddie encounters the beautiful and tough-as-nails Ophelia, an ally and would-be love interest. Together, Eddie and Ophelia use double team attacks for more powerful combo moves to defeat the rock demons that are after them. Luckily, they are bestowed with a super-charged, druid-destroying vehicle, ‘The Deuce’ that can be upgraded with weapons and armor throughout the game. From the bowels of the druid dungeon to the tops of corpse mountains, the Brütal Legend demo is just the beginning of an epic journey.
Oh, and one last thing before signing off. The Brütal Legend website has also been freshly updated with a Q&A blog about the game’s multiplayer mode. Give it a read here. Rock on!
