In this new demo footage, Assassin’s Creed III Creative Director Alexander Hutchinson walks through a portion of gameplay set in the city of Boston, one of two huge new Colonial locales players will get to explore (the other being New York). Along the way, he also introduces some of the game’s evolved mechanics and new assassin tools, such as stalking zones that allow you to hide in brush, the ability to cut through buildings by leaping through windows for quicker escape, a new stealth positioning system that allows you to assassinate red coats from cover points on walls and trees, the retooled combat system, and–my favorite–the rope dart. Watch the video to see what the rope dart can do. It’s awesome.
Also released today are these new screenshots from Assassin’s Creed III‘s new Wolfpack co-op mode, which will have players teaming up to take out a series of assassination targets against a clock, with each kill adding extra time.

I try to avoid watching too much just to stay spoiler free, but I love that the Creative Director has provided commentary on some of the new mechanics.
Adding the ability to call in recruits dressed as Red Coats is a nice touch. So is the building pass through.
This is one game that I’m truly excited to play and the first one I’ve pre-ordered in probably three years.
I’m the same way, only with playable demos. I like watching developer demos with commentary because they explain new content without really spoiling anything in major. However, I try to avoid playing pre-release demos and I’m not all that big on previewing games to be honest, because as a gamer first I don’t like getting a tease of something. I like to be wowed the first time I start playing a new game. BioShock taught me that lesson. I was so psyched for that game that I couldn’t resist downloading the demo, which I proceeded to replay multiple times. Then when the game shipped, the first hour or so was kinda boring because I’d already played it to death.
