Released last month on the Wii, Tenchu: Shadow Assassins now has an official US street date for PSP. Rikimaru and Ayame’s portable adventure sneaks onto PSP March 24th, bringing with it 10+ campaign missions, 50 side quests, 17 authentic ninja tools and hours of vicious stealth killing fun.
I’m playing through the Wii version now for an upcoming review and thus far I’ve found it surprisingly impressive. Some of the added motion control gimmicks do detract from the experience a bit though, so without all that gimmickry the PSP version should be even better.

Matt is a fair-minded reviewer and lover of games of all platforms and types, big or small, hyped or niche, big-budget or indie. But that doesn't mean he will let poor games slide without a good thrashing when necessary!
Another reason why ‘meta-scores’ are not something to live by … when I heard the PSP news I recalled seeing mediocre scores at Metacritic and pretty well dismissed the game from my head. However, that is why I tend to trust the context of written reviews of certain reviewers I know over some generic meta-score. Now I can’t wait to read your review, get a feel and then decide based on your analysis whether it will be something of interest to me.
sounds cool. i never played any other tenchu games so this will be a new addition to my psp game library.
The Tenchu games have always been polarizing. Seems most players either love them or hate them (which seems fairly common with stealth games in general actually), and you can see the same trend in the reviews. Like the Wii version, most of the scores I’ve seen have been up in the 7-8 range or down in the 4s with little in between.
