Tetris Evolves Onto 360

Tetris EvolutionTetris is coming back once again to defend its long-time puzzle game crown, this time for the Xbox 360 in THQ’s upcoming Tetris Evolution. Due out in March, Tetris Evolution is promising to deliver all-new game modes, customizable skins, icons, themes and soundtracks, and robust Xbox Live functionality for up to four players, complete with a smart matchmaking system, an online ladder system and achievement points.

“The Tetris series has been entertaining people of all ages for 20 years and has delivered unprecedented appeal and longevity in gaming,” said Kelly Flock, executive vice president of worldwide publishing, THQ.  “With its predecessor, THQ’s Tetris Worlds, having sold more than two million copies to date, we can’t wait to debut Tetris Evolution on the Xbox 360 to show how the game has further evolved.”

The only thing left to be disclosed is just how Tetris Evolution will be released. As a simple puzzle game, it seems perfect for an Xbox Live Arcade release, however it sounds right now like the game will be released via traditional retail, which would be a questionable move if THQ does indeed go that route. Hopefully we’ll hear more about this soon.
