As you’ve probably seen around the internet, there are many people currently participating in the closed beta of World of Warcraft‘s upcoming expansion The Burning Crusade. While Blizzard had been adamant that they would meet their targeted release of November of this year, players were beginning wonder if the title would be delayed due to the amount of alterations still being made to the beta, and the fact that Blizzard announced a delay for the European version.
This morning, Blizzard officially announced that The Burning Crusade won’t be making it to retail until sometime in January 2007. To quote the WoW forums:
“We appreciate the enthusiasm surrounding World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, and we’re excited about putting the finishing touches on all of the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve.”
So there you have it. It looks like my plans of taking some time off of work and playing WoW in my pajamas this holiday season have fallen through.
Wow, Blizzard delays a game, big surprise there lol. Blizzard NEVER meets its original release date no matter how adamantly they promise they will. They’ve never released a game without multiple delays, at least none that I know of. I haven’t followed the expansion’s progress at all and I still knew there was no way it was coming out this year- in fact I’ll be surprised if it meets their new January 2007 target. Oh well, leaves more time for the sweet new EQII expansion to get some pub without being overshadowed by the overrated WoW hype machine.
I’m glad I didn’t get sucked into that game. My poor friend Josh, he needs to go outside every once in a while….
I am dissappointed that I won’t be able to play the expansion this year. But HEY at least for once a company is not releasing a game/expansion before it is done. Imagine taking the time to do quality checking and adjustments to play BEFORE having the public pay to test it. That is novel! I wonder if they can afford to do so due to thier success. I have played MMOs for years now and it seems to me that publishers push out crap to make deadlines at the expense of “done-ness” on a too regular basis. Blizzard usually pushes out a more done product than most others . . so I am a crying addict wanting earlier release, but encouraged that i will get a better product.
DAMMIT! I’m sick of this thing getting delayed. In the time it has taken them to make this stupid expansion pack, they could’ve already put in tons of new dungeons and such. The last thing they touched was Naxx, and even then…that’s not getting run on half the servers on the game. Above that, from what I’ve heard, there will be common drops from Hellfire Citadel that will be better than most of the raid sets.
And quality work? Blizzard doesn’t do quality work…for the Alliance, at least. They are giving Blood Elves a racial AoE silence ability. Meanwhile…warriors get…um…a massive cooldown time on spell reflection? Yeah…well, I can’t use a spell reflection IF I’M SILENCED! So stupid…
Blizzard rolls Horde…we all know it. That’s why they won’t nerf a shammie!
