The Great Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt Begins Friday

Kicking off this week following the Game of the Year Edition bundle launch, 2K and Gearbox Software will be hosting a month-long Borderlands 2 sweepstakes.

From Friday, October 11 until November 7, vault hunters seeking fame, fortune, and loot are invited to join the Borderlands 2 $100,000 Loot Hunt in-game event. Each day of the event a new bounty target will be given, and to enter the sweepstakes you will simply need to kill the daily target. If you kill all the daily targets, you can earn up to a maximum of 28 contest entries.

Achieving community goals during the event will unlock new guns in the game, but real-world cash and prizes will also be up for grabs. One lucky grand prize winner will take home $50,000 in cold, hard cash, while the other $50,000 will be awarded to four other lucky loot hunters, along with sponsored prize giveaways each for each week. The prize schedule is as follows:

    – Week 1 prizes will include $5,000 in cash and PlayStation Vita systems with free copies of the Borderlands 2 Vita port (when it releases next year).

    – Week 2 prizes will include $10,000 in cash and custom Borderlands 2 XP SEVEN headsets from Turtle Beach.

    – Week 3 prizes will include $15,000 in cash, an NVIDIA Shield streaming set-up with a custom painted Tiki PC from Falcon Northwest, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti GFX cards.

    – Week 4 prizes will include $20,000 in cash, Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition BradyGames strategy guides, and lifetime supplies of Steam keys to download all past, present, and future titles from 2K Games.

Now that’s what I call phat loot!

The only downside for the global Borderlands 2 community is that these cash and sponsored prizes will only be available to vault hunters from the U.S. Players from around the world will still be able to participate in the Loot Hunt event and unlock the in-game loot, but they won’t be eligible for any of the other rewards.

Even if you don’t play Borderlands 2, you can still enter for the Loot Hunt giveaways by mailing a postcard addressed to 2K, Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt Sweepstakes, 10 Hamilton Landing, Novato, CA 94949. Again, this alternate entry method is for U.S. residents only.
