But yeah, it’s not like Nauseous actually won or anything. Maybe he was just available and hungry for free Sony swag.

The Tester certainly has its flaws, but it’s also, as Tim correctly notes, a guilty pleasure that grows on you. It also offers some interesting through-the-looking-glass looks into the game industry and how that industry views modern culture and reality TV.

I can honestly say I haven’t watched even a single second of the actual show (the two minute intro is all I’ve seen). Only reality shows I can stomach anymore these days are cooking competitions like Top Chef.

Fun write-up though. Very entertaining read!

I’m really curious to see just how much non-competition time will be shown during the season. As was indicated early in the new episode the contestants will be grouped together for 8 weeks, yet the show only ever puts the competitions on display. What are the contestants doing the rest of the time?

“Out of the box” team building is always a bit uncomfortable, but pitting the contestants in a “game-like” environment always makes the show intriguing to watch.

I’m glad that Sony has continued to make The Tester and I’m curious to see if they have new original titles in the works for later this year.
