As if the constant barrage of “Game of the Year” edition re-releases wasn’t enough, it seems that the latest marketing hype strategy is releasing enhanced versions of past titles and slapping “Ultimate Edition” or “Definitive Edition” on the title. There’s a Definitive Edition of last year’s Tomb Raider right around the corner for PS4 and Xbox One, and now Capcom is spreading the word about Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition for PC. Oh the joy of buzzwords!
Yup, Resident Evil 4 is being re-released once more, this time on Steam (and at retail in Europe). A PC version of RE4 already exists, but it doesn’t run HD resolution and 60 frames per second like this enhanced version promises. The new version will also take advantage of all the Steam platform perks, including achievements, trading cards, leaderboards, cloud saves, and controller support.
Watch for Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition on Steam come February 28th at a price of $19.99. Pre-purchase the game now to receive a digital soundtrack and an 80 page digital art book.
