We all knew it was coming, but today we know for sure: Red Steel 2 has been officially announced for the Wii and is due out this holiday season.
As the sequel to the wildly criticized Wii launch FPS Red Steel (I really don’t see why it got bashed so much myself), Red Steel 2 returns with the intense shooting and sword dueling action of the original and aims to up the ante with support for the Wii MotionPlus, enabling the game to accurately replicate your controller movements and even sense the strength of your swings so you can control the force of your attacks. No story details yet, but apparently the game will take place in a “desert-bound, high-tech metropolis.” The June Nintendo Power is supposed to deliver the full scoop, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
“Red Steel was a unique opportunity for Ubisoft to work in tandem with Nintendo to create a title exclusively for the launch of the Wii console,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing US at Ubisoft. “Red Steel 2 is another milestone for the company as it is the first Ubisoft title with full Wii MotionPlus integration.”
