Ubisoft’s Bringing a Real Life Assassin’s Creed: Unity Parkour Course to Comic-Con

If you’re heading out to San Diego Comic-Con next week, drop by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Promenade across the street from the San Diego Convention Center and show off your parkour skillz at the Assassin’s Creed Experience, an obstacle course built to replicate the 1789 French Revolution open-world cityscape from the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed: Unity. The live event will run from 10AM to 6PM, Thursday, July 24 through Saturday, July 26, and 10AM to 5PM on Sunday, July 27. Be there or be square.

The Assassin’s Creed Experience obstacle course, designed by Tempest Freerunning and Ubisoft’s new Chief Parkour Officer (yes, such a position now exists in the world), is aimed at teaching participants how to run and leap across rooftops and even perform the iconic 25-foot “Leap of Faith.” Those who manage to complete the course will take home a free Assassin’s Creed Experience t-shirt, while supplies last. (On a side note, Ubisoft will also have Assassin’s Creed: Unity and The Crew t-shirts to hand out to customers who pre-order the games on-site at Comic-Con.)

As for this Chief Parkour Officer dude, his name is Michael “Frosti” Zernow, and he’s the first person in the world with the title of Chief Parkour Officer. What does a Chief Parkour Officer do exactly? Well, for Ubisoft he will “serve in a strategic advisory role, ensuring an ongoing commitment to the authenticity and accuracy of parkour.”

So I guess that makes him sort of like a parkour video game stunt coordinator. It seems like a completely superfluous job to me, but Zernow himself has performed motion capture for previous titles, so he probably deserved a promotion to a more official position.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity launches October 28th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
