I can say that having OCD will make you hate Deus Ex. There are achievments for completing the game 1) without killing anyone, and 2) NOT SETTING OFF ANY ALARMS. Human Revolution isn’t a short game, so alarms are going to go off eventually and anyone completing it with this goal in mind better like looking at the loading screen.

It would be very difficult to read all of the emails and optional narrative content without seriously risking setting off alarms. That is not a fun way to play the game, particularly since the game is somewhat like Metal Gear in that the alarm status will go away. Missing all of that side stuff is half the fun of the game.

The way I played it mostly was to stealth around, but when the chips fell down, foos got iced. There are some segments in that game which have opptional goals that are impossible to accomplish without killing people (maybe cheating somehow on the PC version). It is not as enjoyable if it is played like a pure stealth game.

P.S. – Just for comparison’s sake, my 8-game tournament (if I HAD to do one) would probably come down to Dark Souls, Alice: Madness Returns, Mortal Kombat, Crysis 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, Portal 2 and LA Noire. Rayman Origins and Batman Arkham City would challenge to knock a couple of those off, but I haven’t played either one long enough yet.

Dark Souls would be the champ no matter what.

Many of your picks differ from mine, but that’s why I wanted us to do these individually.

I’m not big on GTA style sandbox crime games so probably won’t get around to playing SR3, but I have a copy of Deus Ex waiting to be opened when I can squeeze in some personal gaming time. Been dying to play it since reading your review.

DXHR, while a sound game no doubt, would likely cause that OCD perfectionist in me to play without killing anyone and cause more self imposed grief each time I’d have to restart because a guard died at my hand.

Plus how can you go wrong with a giant purple schlong as a weapon?
