Wager Matches Add Gambling Twist to Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer

Activision and Treyarch are hosting a multiplayer preview party for Call of Duty: Black Ops in Los Angeles tonight, and at the event they have introduced a new mode for the game called Wager Match. Wager Match consists of four different match types — One in the Chamber, Sticks and Stones, Gun Game and Sharp Shooter — and a system of progression completely seperate from the standard ranked match types. In these Wager Matches, you will gamble in-game currency against other players, betting on yourself to come out as one of the top three performers on the final scoreboard.

Watch the video embedded up top for a complete overview of how Wager Matches work. They do look incredibly intense, but also like they’ll probably only appeal to the hardcore Call of Duty crowd. I know I’d have a hell of a time making the top three on the leaderboard, and thus get frustrated over constantly losing all my money!
