Welcome to the Playful World of Pid

Pid

Slipping into E3 under the radar of the main attention grabbers, Pid is a retro-flavored 2D platformer coming to digital platforms (I’m assuming PC, PSN and XBLA, but haven’t seen specific platform confirmation yet) from small start-up studio Might and Delight.

Yeah, okay, it’s another platformer, but Pid is different from the rest. The game stars a young schoolboy who becomes stranded on a strange planet swarming with robots that aren’t too happy to see him. Pid’s gameplay twist centers on a unique means of puzzle solving and general navigation. The game’s main mechanic involves placing what are best described as anti-gravity portals that lift any object stepping into their field, including the boy.

Check out the following gameplay video to see how this seemingly simple mechanic allows for countless ways to overcome gaming’s most basic hazard, the spike pit.
