Since the holidays are over and the gift giving finished, I’m back in town and at the helm. I decided that this week we would change our weekly “What Did You Play This Weekend” column to “what did you get.” This will let all of you VGBlogger readers let everyone else know what games will be occupying your time for the weeks to come.
In my case, my dad got me Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for the Nintendo DS. I was a big fan of last year’s Dawn of Sorrow and since this is a similar title it was the only game I actually suggested to anyone. It’s fun, just like the last one, however I think jumping into each portrait and contending with each level within in addition to navigating Dracula’s Castle will get confusing towards the end.
Something else I received was this neat flat keyboard. It’s made out of a synthetic material and you can even roll it up or wash it off with alcohol or a moist towel. I’m still getting used to it, but it’s really quiet and I seem to type a bit quicker while using it. Anyway, the thing isn’t made in this country and the warning it gave in the instructions are fairly amusing. For example, the Roll-keyboard can be used in the below conditions:
- It must be used on an even working face.
- It can be used in the temperature of -40C-+80C.
- It can be used in the damp environment even shallow water.
- It can be used in the dusty environment even sandstorm.
- It can be used in the acidity and alkaline environment.
- It can be laundered by alcohol or disinfector.
- It cannot be contacted the sharp object.
- It cannot be contacted the oil or the organic impregnate like acetone and toluol etc.
- It cannot be pressed when it was rolled.
- Cannot places the heavy object on it in long time.
- It cannot be putted into the oven and putted on the fire to roast.
- We cannot put out strength to twist or pull it.
Hmmmm….interesting. Now check out some of the conditions in which in cannot be used:
……………….uh huh. So what did you get this holiday weekend?
Uh-huh, and we believes instruction for Roll-keyboard have announced by Gollum and Borat’s love child! Wow! lol
Anyways, I didn’t get a single present for Christmas, just like I asked for. All I wanted was a good Christmas with the family and lots of good memories. I got exactly that, so =). However, I did go out and buy something last night (but it’s not a game). I actually spent money and bought (god, I can’t believe I’m going to say this)…Jackass: Number Two. It’s HILARIOUS! Brilliance on a maniacal level. You just have to watch it.
I didn’t actually get any video games for Christmas – but I got a ton of other cool stuff.
I did buy my hubby NHL 2K7 for the PS3 – all you Nintendo fanboy haters (not mentioning any names) will hate my review of this game when I finally write it (hopefully this weekend). The Sixaxis is in full effect, and the motion sensor capabilities work GREAT in this game.
Glad to hear you all had a good holiday!
This Christmas was the best ever. Most importantly it was my niece’s first Christmas and my bro’s first in his new home with his wife and daughter, so it was great to spend some time with them for the week.
Regarding the main topic here- I got some pretty cool stuff. Got a sweet new gaming mouse, a good pair of headphones, the third and fourth season DVD collections for News Radio (the best sitcom ever!!!), some 24 DVD box sets (of which I’ve watched a full season and five hours of another in only 3 days lol, man that series is so good- can’t wait for the new season to start in a few weeks), and some new Dragonlance series books (other than LotR, these are my favorite fantasy novels- only those by Weis and Hickman though).
My major gift was getting a PS3 for myself :)- the day after X-mas we went to the mall and the EB Games there had just gotten in two 60GB PS3’s that morning, so I lucked into one finally. Had about 200 bucks in store credit, so that helped. Got Resistance and a PS2 memory card adapter with it- only thing that sucks is that all the stores around here are sold out of HD cables, so I had to order some online and am waiting for those to come in this week. Fuck all the naysaying- the PS3 is great so far, and as a launch title Resistance is better than pretty much anything I’ve played on the 360. Also, the backwards compatibily works perfectly fine so far- I haven’t had any problems with games not working or the visual quality looking worse. In fact, games like FFXII and Black have looked better to me.
