Here is our second console lesson of the night: when playing Wii Sports, try not to get so into the game that you break the remote’s wrist strap and hurl it into your HDTV.
Case in point. Kotaku had pictures up today of what happens when a few college buddies have too much to drink and get a little overexcited about virtual bowling. Obviously by looking at the above picture, the television didn’t take the brunt of the flying Wii remote too well as it cracked pretty good. Also, if you check out the guy that was playing it when the death of the television occurred, you can kinda see why something like this happened in the first place.

Umm, yeah, it’s no wonder the TV is broken.
This almost happened to my brother, sort of. We were playing bowling just after getting our Wiis at a party and before we started, everyone told him to use the wrist strap, just like the screen prompt. He shrugged it off and went ahead…to send his Wiimote over the TV where it proceeded to bounce between two brick walls and fall onto barely padded cement.
As should come as no surprise, the room of 15 burst into an uncontrollable stupor for a few minutes at his expense. Thankfully, no TVs had to be fixed, heh.
While flipping around on TV a little earlier I saw G4 reporting this story as I passed by- what a dope. It was brought up during one of their commerical news breaks, and mentioned it while talking about reported problems with some defective Wiis.
