The Nintendo 3DS may already be taking a price cut nosedive<\/a>, but loyal Nintendo fans who have already adopted the system shouldn’t feel completely burned by paying $80 more than what cautious consumers will be paying for the same device in only a couple more weeks.<\/p>\n

Along with this morning’s price drop news, Nintendo has announced a special Ambassador Program to reward the 830,000 loyal Nintendoites who purchased the 3DS at its max $250 price tag. Anyone who owns a 3DS and connects to the Nintendo eShop before 11:59 p.m. EST on Aug. 11 will automatically be designated an Ambassador, and as Ambassadors these early 3DS adopters will be able to download 20 free games from the eShop beginning in September.<\/p>\n

The program starts on September 1st, when Ambassadors will be able to download 10 NES Virtual Console games, including classics like Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda, ahead of their public releases and at no charge. <\/p>\n

After that, 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games will be made available for free by the end of the year, including titles like Yoshi\u2019s Island, Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. What’s more, these GBA games in particular will be exclusive to 3DS Ambassadors, as Nintendo says there are no future plans to make any of them available on the public eShop.<\/p>\n
