Spider-Man’s two most recent video game appearances have been mixed bags of surprisingly solid and disappointingly lousy. But Activision and returning developer Beenox, rushing to get another<\/em> yearly installment out the door, will attempt to recapture the magic of Spider-Man 2<\/em> in next summer’s movie tie-in for The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em>, due for retail release on 3DS, DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 sometime during 2012’s hot summer months, will mark the return of an open-world New York City environment, giving players the freedom to swing amongst the skyscrapers once more. I guess an old dog can learn old tricks. Wait, that’s not how the saying goes…<\/p>\n The game’s storyline will be that of an epilogue picking up the events of Peter Parker’s life where the movie leaves off, an original narrative penned by by Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena<\/em> and Battlestar Galactica<\/em> fame.<\/p>\n Spike TV’s Video Game Awards show will premiere the world exclusive debut trailer this Saturday night.
