In my review of the Xbox Live Arcade version<\/a> of 11 bit studios’ excellent tower-offense strategy game, Anomaly Warzone Earth<\/em>, I mentioned the lack of multiplayer and tossed about a possible idea for a co-op mode. Well, 11 bit must have heard me–or more likely than not already had the idea in the works–because Anomaly<\/em> is getting a port over to PlayStation 3 via PSN later this summer, and with it will come the exclusive addition of a local co-op mode. Yes, now you and a friend will be able to kick alien ass together from the seat of your couch!<\/p>\n

My pitch for a co-op mode was to have two Commanders each control their own smaller squad and take out different sides of a map. That’s not quite how it will work in reality. Anomaly<\/em>‘s PS3 co-op mode will have each player in control of their own Commander, but one will command the squad while the other plans out the map strategy. Each Commander will be in control of their own abilities, which can also now be combined for enhanced area of effect on the battlefield. Neato torpedo!<\/p>\n

11 bit will be showing off more PS3 Anomaly Warzone Earth<\/em>, as well as three brand-new, never-before-seen games, at next month’s Gamescom event in Germany.
