Ubisoft just can’t quit its yearly Assassin’s Creed<\/em> cycle, even if the unpolished quality of recent installments<\/a> suggests that it may be a good idea to cool out on the series a bit. But of course that will never happen since there’s too much cash to rake in from an annual release.<\/p>\n

This year’s Assassin’s Creed<\/em>, officially confirmed today as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag<\/em>, is once again changing characters and settings. Ubisoft’s press mailer doesn’t give away any details — it confirms the title with a link to download the key art seen on this page and teases a full announcement to come on March 4th, and that’s it. However, early reports spreading across the internet point to the game starring Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Connor from Assassin’s Creed III<\/em>. As an assassin, privateer and pirate, players will reportedly engage in open-world naval exploration and traditional land-based gameplay across multiple Caribbean islands such as Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.<\/p>\n

Other information floating around points to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag<\/em> being released on PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360, but there seems to be some speculation that Ubisoft wants to put it on the next-gen consoles as well. Box art has also surfaced indicating that the PS3 version will contain 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay content.<\/p>\n
