The shield design contest that worked so well for the original Dark Souls<\/em> is back, this time for the upcoming sequel, Dark Souls II<\/em>. <\/p>\n

Aspiring artists\/blacksmiths can once again forge custom shield design art to possibly appear as a functioning piece of armor within the game. Through May 13th, Dark Souls<\/em> fans can visit the Shield Design Facebook app<\/a> and download the provided shield templates. Each person is allowed to submit three different shield designs, which will be uploaded to a voting gallery where the most popular heraldic masterpieces will be determined by fan vote ending on May 20th. (Please don’t vote for the inevitable barrage of penis shields!)<\/p>\n

From there, the most popular shields will be sent off to FromSoftware for final judgment. A total of six shields will then be chosen by the developers to appear in the game, with the winning shield skin craftsmen to each receive a copy of Dark Souls II<\/em> signed by the developers and the immortality of appearing in the game’s credits scroll. Find out who wins at San Diego Comic Con from July 18th through the 21st.<\/p>\n

Dark Souls II<\/em> will be out later this year for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.<\/p>\n
