It wouldn’t be a year on the gaming calendar without the annual holiday season release of a new Assassin’s Creed<\/em> game. Rumors suggest there will actually be two new entries in the series this year, but we’ll wait and see on that. For now Ubisoft is confirming one: Assassin’s Creed: Unity<\/em> for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, due out Holiday 2014. You may have already seen the leaked images of the game that floated around the internet earlier in the week, now there’s official footage in the form of a teaser trailer. <\/p>\n

It’s not much to go off of, but all signs are pointing to a setting of the French Revolution. Assassin’s Creed 3<\/em> bored me to tears so I just couldn’t convince myself to see it through to the end. However, from what I’ve read about the story at some point General Lafayette asks Connor to come to France. The French Revolution occurs shortly after the American Revolution, so the timeline makes sense.<\/p>\n

Ubisoft isn’t giving anything specific away yet though. This is the only small blurb of text that came with the accompanying press mailer:<\/p>\n

“We have been working on the new Assassin\u2019s Creed for more than three years, and wanted to find the perfect time to give you an early taste of the game. Apparently though, the Templar Order was hungry to know more right now. To this, we say \u201cQu’ils mangent de la brioche!\u201d (\u201cLet them eat cake!\u201d). Help yourself to a serving of the first official footage from the next-gen only Assassin\u2019s Creed Unity. Stay tuned – we’ll have many more exciting details for you in the future.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
