Fallout 3 downloadable content and future plans for its distribution.

First up, word has been delivered that all of the Fallout 3 DLC, previously exclusive to PC and Xbox 360, will now also be released on PS3. Operation: Anchorage is scheduled for PS3 release in late June, with The Pitt and Broken Steel to follow in 4-6 week intervals. A patch will be released soon to prep the PS3 version for the DLC.

Two brand new DLC add-ons have also been announced this morning for all three platforms, including Point Lookout, a swampland area with new quests, and Mothership Zeta, a new mission that will have you fighting to survive an alien abduction. Point Lookout will be available in late June for PC and Xbox 360, with Mothership Zeta to follow in late July. Both add-ons will cost $9.99/800 MS Points. Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta won’t be released on PS3 until after the first three add-ons are released, so don’t expect either until around September.

And finally, Bethsoft has announced plans to make all of its Fallout 3 DLC available at retail for PC and Xbox 360, starting with next week’s May 26th release of Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 containing The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage on a disc. Broken Steel and Point Lookout will then go on sale together in August as part of Add-on Pack #2. According to Bethsoft, these retail bundles “are not possible” for PS3, but the good news is the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition is set for release in October for all three platforms, and it’ll ship with all five add-ons for $60 on PS3 and 360, and $50 on PC.

Bethsoft just dropped off a huge update regarding new Fallout 3 downloadable content and future plans for its distribution.
