After a brief delay from its originally scheduled release last Thursday, the much-anticipated demo for Crackdown<\/em> has become available on the Xbox Live Marketplace today. Featured in the 1GB-plus demo is the ability to play in a limited portion of the game’s open environment in both single-player and co-op modes with accelerated progression in five skills. There is one possible caveat to all this however. Once reaching level two in any skill, a 30-minute time limit is activated. I generally hate timed demos, but in this case 30 minutes is more than enough time to see what the game has to offer if you ask me, and you can always replay the demo from the beginning.<\/p>\n

Anyways, I’ve checked the demo out in solo mode, and so far it’s nothing remarkable, but still decent fun. The demo hasn’t changed my early overall feelings on the game as a whole, as it’s still just the same old GTA<\/em> formula without any true innovation that I’ve seen, but it’s nice to play on the side of good in this type of game for a change and the cel-shaded graphical style looks very cool. I will say that I am looking forward to seeing how the final game turns out a little more after playing the demo than I was before.
