Valhalla Knights 2<\/em> was a rather disappointing sequel to a rather disappointing original game, both Mike and I agreed in our discussion review<\/a> back in late 2008, but XSEED and Marvelous Entertainment refuse to give up on the series.<\/p>\n

While a new installment in the series hasn’t been announced (and at this point I hope there isn’t after the abysmal Eldar Saga<\/em> Wii iteration), an enhanced digital download re-release of Valhalla Knights 2<\/em> for PSP has.<\/p>\n

Subtitled Battle Stance<\/em>, XSEED’s attempt at a VK2<\/em> do-over will feature the following improvements:<\/p>\n

– Addition of warp points scattered in convenient locations throughout the game.<\/p>\n

– Combat streamlined with a maximum party size of four members instead of six, allowing for a more deliberate pace and greater party control.<\/p>\n

– More customization options for the appearance and status of characters, as well as 19 new weapons and 26 new armor and accessory additions.<\/p>\n

– Other additional content includes 7 new monsters, 19 new quest items, 4 new event characters, 10 new single player quests, and 10 new multiplayer quests.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The added warp points should help make the game less tedious, but I’m not exactly sure how limiting party size is going to improve anything. Everything else is really just window dressing — a bunch of extra content piled on top of a poor core game doesn’t make it any better.<\/p>\n

Valhalla Knights 2: Battle Stance<\/em> will be released as a digital download exclusively via the PSN store next Thursday, January 21 and will cost $29.99.
