How does a video game uber-hybrid of Trine<\/em>, Prince of Persia<\/em> and Ikaruga<\/em> sound to you? Pretty unbelievable, right? Well believe it!<\/p>\n

At PAX Seattle today, Ubisoft lifted the curtain on Outland<\/em><\/a>, a stylized platformer which, according to name drops in the press release, has ties to the aforementioned trio of gaming hits. In fact, Ari Pulkkinen, composer of Trine<\/em>‘s beautiful score, has signed on to compose this game’s soundtrack too.<\/p>\n

Developed by Housemarque<\/a> (Super Stardust HD<\/em>, Dead Nation<\/em>) for an early 2011 release on PSN for PS3 and XBLA for Xbox 360, Outland<\/em> “puts players in the middle of a world of balance and chaos where their efforts allow them to bridge the ancient divide, or doom the world to destruction” and will “test their swordplay by running, jumping and climbing to dodge the deadly traps of a world on the brink of collapse.” There aren’t any specifics yet on how exactly it will all work, but like Ikaruga<\/em>, the core gameplay is said to revolve around the concept of light versus darkness.<\/p>\n
