The biggest surprise of all the 3DS games that are in the pipeline has to be Mega Man Legends 3<\/em>, which Capcom unveiled yesterday at Nintendo’s press conference in Japan. Fans have been begging for more Mega Man Legends<\/em> for years now (myself included), and while I would rather see the series continue on consoles, I’m just happy to see the series get another installment. So is Keiji Inafune:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have wanted to create a new installment in this series for a number of years,\u201d said the title\u2019s Executive Producer, Keiji Inafune. \u201cIt is great that we now have the opportunity to bring this title to the Nintendo 3DS.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mega Man Legends 3<\/em> has been announced in title only at this time. More information is said to be coming at next month’s New York Comic-Con.<\/p>\n

As it turns out, Capcom appears to be the strongest third-party supporter of the 3DS early on. On top of Mega Man Legends 3<\/em> and a 3D version of Super Street Fighter IV<\/em>, Capcom also has two Resident Evil<\/em> titles in development for the newfangled handheld. We already knew about Resident Evil: Revelations<\/em><\/a>, but now Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D<\/em> has been announced as well. And as you can probably guess from the title, it will be a portable version of the Mercenaries mode from Resident Evil 4<\/em> and Resident Evil 5<\/em>, plus 3D visuals, new modes and characters, and WiFi support for online co-op.<\/p>\n

New screenshots for the 3DS Resident Evil<\/em> duo are posted below for you to check out. I have to say, these are clearly the most impressive technical showcases of the 3DS’s graphical might. Both games outclass RE4<\/em> and don’t look that far off of RE5<\/em>. Of course, what they look like in motion will be the true test.<\/p>\n
