Announced today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Razer Switchblade is an exciting new concept design for a portable PC gaming system promising to deliver the “full desktop experience in a netbook sized solution.”<\/p>\n
Built in collaboration with Intel and powered by the Atom processor, the Switchblade replaces the traditional mouse and keyboard interface with a multi-touch screen and an innovative keyboard design which adapts its configuration and key layout on-the-fly for each individual game and even for specific in-game situations. So, for example, in World of Warcraft<\/em>, the keys light up with spell\/ability icons like the in-game hotkey icons. And in a game like Quake<\/em>, instead of memorizing the number keys associated with each gun, the keyboard shows the individual icons on the face of the keys so you know exactly which key to push for each weapon. Pretty neat stuff!<\/p>\n Keep in mind that currently, the Switchblade is merely a concept design, so there is no telling when it will actually be made available to consumers at retail, how much it will cost, or what the specific hardware performance capabilities will be. But for now it is an exciting piece of tech to drool over and ponder whether it will actually deliver what it says it will.
