Next week, the Nintendo 3DS reaches an important milestone in its early life on the market: the eShop and Internet Browser, two features that really should have been ready for the system’s launch, finally go live via a system update set to be released on the evening of June 6th in North America.<\/p>\n

The first titles to be available with the eShop will include Pok\u00e9dex 3D<\/em>, an app for ogling Pok\u00e9mon characters collected from Pok\u00e9mon Black<\/em> and White<\/em> in 3D, along with Game Boy Virtual console games Super Mario Land<\/em>, Alleyway<\/em> and Radar Mission<\/em> and the existing DSiWare catalog of over 350 titles. Until July 7th, NES game Excitebike<\/em> will also be available as a free download to promote Nintendo’s ‘3D Classics’ line of old favorites remastered in 3D. From there, regular eShop content updates will occur every Thursday.<\/p>\n

This update will also bring with it the launch of an Internet browser capable of viewing specific websites in 3D and being used during gameplay at the touch of the Home button (reportedly it won’t support Flash though). Additionally, Nintendo DSi and DSi XL users with previously purchased DSiWare titles will be able to transfer their collections over to the 3DS.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the 3DS’ journey online, Nintendo, in allegiance with Simon Property Group, AT&T and Best Buy, will be offering 25,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots at shopping malls, airports, retailers and coffee shops across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
