Xbox 360 Warranties Extended

Red Ring of DeathLast week we ran a story detailing how many people were experiencing issues resulting from installing the latest update on their Xbox 360s. The issue was so severe that a class action lawsuit had started against Microsoft and things were beginning to look ugly.

Well yesterday, in a surprising but welcome announcement from MS, all warranties on Xbox 360 units have been upgraded from 90-days to a full year. This upgrade is retroactive to all systems and additionally if you had to pay anything out of pocket for a repair within a year of purchasing your system, you qualify for a full refund. Whenever something like this happens, it kind of makes me feel that Microsoft is taking the blame for the failing consoles. In the end though, they’re at least being responsible.

More information on the warranty extension may be found here at Microsoft’s Xbox website.
