Yoku’s Island Express Blends Pinball With Metroidvania

All aboard Yoku’s Island Express, the world’s first (at least to my knowledge) hybrid of open world metroidvania platforming exploration and arcade pinball mechanics. How can I ever resist a game that combines two of my all-time favorite genres?

Swedish developer Villa Gorilla’s debut game, Yoku’s Island Express will put players in control of Yoku the dung beetle, rolling and bouncing about the nonlinear environments to rebuild the post office and become the new postman on Mokumana Island, a world of lush, painterly visual splendor and quirky creatures in need of help to survive earthquakes and storms brought on by the nightmares of an ancient God.

Watch for Yoku’s Island Express on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime during the winter months later this year or early next year. The Steam page is already live for anyone interested in flipping the game onto their wishlist.
